Hidden by Kendra Elliot 3 ✭

This is the first book in the Bone Secrets Series by Kendra Elliot. It is a total of a six book series.Lacey Campbell is a former gymnast and the survivor of the Co-ed Killer. Lacey's testimony was the one that put him away in jail. Now eleven years later she is a forensic odontologist, which means she looks at teether and bones. So in the beginning of this book, it is truly devastating when she is inspecting a set of teeth at a homicide and realizes that she knows whom they belong to while they are just sitting in the palm of her hand. They belong to her best friend Suzanne who went missing when they were both attacked by the Co-ed Killer.

Jack Harper is a former cop who now runs his families business. He is seen as a rich "playboy" but thankfully the book doesn't focus on this like a lot of other books where the millionaire playboy is the main love interest. Suzanne's body was discovered on one of his properties. What makes this even more puzzling is that he was one of the cops on the case all those eleven years ago.

This book has many perspectives and sometimes it jumps a little weird. The best way that I can explain it is that they needed to cut down on the size of the book and just cut whole paragraphs of descriptive scene changes. That is the ONLY reason why it is rated so low and that may just be my personal take on the writing and my comprehension of these scene changes. I hope that I am not judging this too harshly because of my personal comprehension issues, but that's just how I felt.

This is an amazing book if it wasn't for that. The characters points of view are written great. It makes you think about who could be the killer many different times. Not only does it give you Jack and Lacey's view but it also shows you the killers perspective, one of the cops on the current case, and even Lacey's report ex-boyfriend/ best friend. I really enjoy mysteries that make you guess along while you read. It's the kind of thing that you have to take a break to really think, did they give me enough clues to figure it out for myself.

Raging Falcon by Stephen C Perkins 3 ✭

One of the things everyone thinks about is government control and whether they abuse the power that they have access to. Is it for the good of the people or is it harming the people? And depending on the world that we lived in what could it look like if you add magic and wars?

In this world, a spy agency has taken control of the government and has used its power to control with blackmail, terror kills, bombings and stuff like that. Control with fear. This is something that you see in the current day even, so reading this is chilling ( not sure if that's the word I want to use). This book feels like a realistic possibility of things that could come, that could happen.

The characters are really interesting to read about also. So not only is the world build great, the people are good too. You have Stacy Keogh (aka Iron Major) who is married and has a son named Jim. Jim Keogh is convicted of murder for the woman he is in love with. There is also Larisa Ustinov who has this weird love triangle thing going on.

The whole dystopian world with black magic mental battles was super cool to me. However, the political side was the main takeaway for me. This was an excellent read and I feel greatly privileged to have received a free copy to offer my honest view of this amazing book.

Two days to pack!

We had planned a road trip for two weeks to go to my in laws in North Carolina. Our plan was to leave Thursday. Well today my husband has decided that we are leaving on Wednesday. So after their birthday party this weekend, I now have two days to get me, the kids, and the house ready... what a dick.

So I am going nuts of course. Book reading is on pause again. Although I do have a Review to post today after I fix it some. It's laundry and packing chaos in this house people. Let's go!!
The drive to my husband's mothers house is suppose to be an 8 hour drive. However driving with a one and three year old should add roughly two hours. Diaper changes, lunchtime, and bottles.

Have kids these said it will be fun.

I think this time though I am going to keep my camera on me in the car so maybe I can take some nice pictures on the road.

Paper Love by Aubrey Wynne 5 ✭

A sweet and pure romantic read about a woman and her sister as they start over in America after a family tragedy. Joss struggles with her mother's death and after being back in the United States she learns very quickly not all men can be trusted. Her friend invites her to a party at her brother's house and that's how she meets Ben. Ben will do anything to regain Joss's trust. I really like how he had to work for her affection and it wasn't just an instant happily ever after type of book.

This is for anyone who loves sweet romance and not a smut read. You feel for the characters and you develop a relationship with them that makes you root for them. This is a really great pure type of romance. I adore this book and I feel like it's something I would pick up off the shelf at the store just randomly walking by.  This was a pretty quick read and it's something I would definitely read for a quick summer read on the weekend.

Birthday for My Babies

Yesterday was my daughter's birthday and we did a joint cake day for our son also. His birthday was last Saturday. I know my kids have a one week difference in their birthdays. Would it freak you out to know my best friends son shares the SAME Day as my son?

Yep both the boys are June 17 babies. One was born 2016, and the other 2015. My daughter was born 2014. It's actually pretty cool for me and my best friend but I will never do a joint birthday again for my two if I can avoid it. Just too much going on. I didn't get hardly any pictures that I wanted to. I just can't handle chaos beyond what my kids bring. Haha.

I did manage to get a picture of the cake that my husband tried to write on for the kids. "Cam and V are 1 and 3"

So due to the whole birthday weekend thing I am not reading hardly any book right now. I am working on one by Kendra Elliot that I am halfway through that I am super hooked into. Review to come.

Rahab and Joshua (a biblical love story) by Rivha Gonen 4 ✭

As the title suggests this is a biblical story a girl who was raped and had to become a prostitute. She helps some spies hid in her home while they are trying to help take over Jericho. I'm gonna let you know, I am not religious at all. So to be this was a very interesting read. And while I understand that there are actual facts here as well that are supposed to be accurate, so I really want to understand the view of this time of conflict.

Rahab really had a rough childhood, and it goes into a lot of detail about her father's childhood and life too. There is so much information about the characters and their lives. It is written extremely well. It's very interesting (again I am not religious) how there is a prostitute in Jesus' lineage. After reading this book, I may even be interested in learning more about different religions in general.

I did receive a free copy of the book to give the author a completely honest review. So when I saw a few typing errors, I am hoping that it was just the copy I had received was an ARC. In one instance there was suppose to be a town name, but it was just two random letters. But this I am sure will be fixed in no time if it hasn't already been fixed.

This book is going to be released for kindle on July 31, 2017. It will also be a Kindle Unlimited book!

Missing By Adiva Geffen 4 ✭

This is a great book about private detectives in Israel that is super fast paced. It's like one of those action movies that start off with a shocking bang and just keeps going with twists and turns. A realistic crime suspense movie adventure would be good to describe it.

There is runaway girl that the detectives are trying to get home. However, when the girl, Daria, commits suicide it sends them on a wild chase with cults and other crazy stuff. The book is great at hooking you into the adventure as they try to discover what happened to Daria. I've been reading a few books that take place in another country lately, and it has been an amazing trip. I feel like this give me another tale to add to my places my mind has been.

The characters, Sammy and Dikla, are very interesting. Although I personally think crime-solving characters have to have some quality that makes them stand out, to begin with. There is a strength here that is admirable that you see.

For a book that was recently translated into English, I was pleased with the quality of the writing. The books formatted great also. The author is a best-selling author so you would expect the best. That is what you get here. A must read for those crime solver lovers out there.

I did receive a free copy of this book so that I could provide the author with an unbiased review. This book can be pre-ordered now for Kindle and it will be released July 24, 2017 for only $3.99.

The Royal Dragoneers Review by M.R. Mathias 4 ✭

Ok, I want to start off by saying I do read fantasy books but usually, they're under the romance category first. This book was great even though it was a fantasy first and foremost. The Royal Dragoneers has duh, dragons, action, and a little bit of romance too. The characters were interesting to read about.

Royal Dragoneers completely had my attention all they way to the end of the book. I was about to imagine the story like I was watching some cool high-end movie. The four main characters are trying to warn the king of the war that is on the way, and they have these trolls and orcs to deal with. It's a pretty intense emotional rollercoaster. I had to force myself to take my time reading this one because I felt like it was a special read that I didn't want to rush through. I am very glad that I did that.

I am considering picking up the next book in the series soon. For now, the trilogy is going on my "want to check out" list. You should try The Royal Dragoneers if you enjoy reading fantasy books.

I picked up the Kindle version for a really good price too.
The Royal Dragoneer's $0.99 for Kindle Now!

Cinder & Ella by Kelly Oram 5 ✭

Absolutely Emotional

Cinder & Ella is a great Happily Ever After book. But you know what, honestly even if it didn't have the struggles of young love, it still would have been an amazing book. Take out the sweet cute Cinderella story aspect (which was done really great) and you have this story that breaks your heart and builds you back.

Short and sweet version... Ella was a normal girl who lost everything. She didn't even have herself anymore, she was alone and her body was walking physical torture. She gets back into school and then begins the verbal torture. It's a but how she grows from rock bottom and works through all the ups and downs. A new family, loneliness, all that. She breaks down a few times and you feel for her. If you put yourself in her place you feel the anger, the sadness, the utter despair with her.

Moving on to the love story aspect, this was done really good. He wasn't the typical movie star boy that was just bleh. . . He had goals for himself, and his own storyline that ran with Ellis obviously. But what got me is he GREW as a character. He went from a teen heartthrob who did as he was told and changed to be the man in command.

I would recommend this book for sure. For a teen and up. What pulled me was what the story was gonna be about, and this beautiful unique cover. Yes, the cover got me. It didn't feel like the typical copycat covers you see everywhere. This book is in fact, currently a Kindle Unlimited read! So if you have Kindle Unlimited you need to totally check this out!

Her Uniform Cowboy: Kade by Donna Michaels 5 ✭

So I heard about Donna Michaels threw my mom, she uses the bank my mom works at. Its funny because my mom has a thyroid problem similar to Brandi in the book. I have been following her newsletter to keep up with whats new for her because it is always great to see the accomplishments of a local, especially for around here. Plus, mom said she is very nice! So when I saw this free on the amazon kindle, I had to scoop it up.

This was a total treat, and I would recommend it for sure. If I had known it was going to be so good I would have paid for it. I am thinkjng of grabbing the rest of the series. The next book looks to be a really good one also.

Manroot by Anne Steinberg 4 ✭

I bought this book on Amazon for the great price of $0.99. I just want to start off by saying that this book is very dark. There may even be things that might offend some people. It really depends on your personal preference. However, I did keep reading no matter what I came up to. Goodreads.com has it listed as 320 pages which usually seems short but this book is very descriptive and it can seem longer. I don't usually mind descriptive books because then you can visualize the world it is in better. You're able to feel the eerie mysteriousness of the whole book.

Katherine is born with mystic healing and an affinity for herbalism which she gets from her mothers' heritage. Her father is a drunk Irishman, and her mother was a Navajo Indian. Her father is sick. He actually rapes his own daughter, eww. Who knows, this takes place in the time of the great depression I guess, who knows what kind of sickos there were. Take it as you want. Anyways, they end up in this town in Missouri, which is where her father abandons her at the Inn she is working at.

This book was spooky and interesting too. I like the spiritual side or the traditions that come across when you are reading. The book follows Katherine during her lifetime and her twins, which is personally weird for me because my mother was a twin until recently. I liked Katherine as a character. Then there were other times where I was so frustrated or emotional. It probably has nothing to do with the character herself, but more so about the things that happen to her or the circumstances of the situation.

If you enjoy reading a book about a different time, and a different world, then this could be the book for you. It's listed at a good price for $0.99 so I just bought it. However it is also a Kindle Unlimited read, so you can pick it up for free here

The Hand: The Mirror of the Soul by Talma Brill 5 ✭

I picked this book up recently out of curiosity. What I found out is that there is a history and a very natural feeling to understanding people's hands. There is the obvious lifeline type of thing, but this also goes into more. This is not for a novice I don't believe. This goes way in depth into understanding the nuances of what you see that makes a person them. It makes sense in a sense, everyone's fingerprints are unique to that individual, so why wouldn't the hand.

What I really liked about this was how clear the illustrations were. Figure 4.5 was the hand of Dr. Mandelbrod who is an athlete and sports coach, and if was like a fingerprinting of his hand. This was so cool. It was clear as if the paper was in front of you. Also the names and attention to detail in the information right down the fingers. An explanation for each type of crease and stuff like that. That's what I mean, this isn't for a novice, which I myself am. Full disclosure this is my first-hand reading type of book. Even with that, I was really able to enjoy it.

I would recommend this to anyone who has an interest in understanding another person better but checking out their hand. This is a pre-order that will be available July 8, 2017, for $3.99. However, you can also check this book out for FREE when available on Kindle Unlimited.

Tender No Judgement by Elle St. John 3 ✭

I didn't mind the storytelling the author provided. I originally had trouble getting through this book, but it wasn't as bad as I thought. My biggest problem is referring to a Marine as a soldier. NO Marine would ever be OK with being called that. It's considered belittling. They are Marines. Also, I am 90% sure no marines wear berets. All USMC "hats" are called covers. I told my husband about this who was a sergeant in the Marine Corps and he said I should immediately stop reading this book. It's sort of like calling football and tennis the same thing.

Moving beyond that, I did enjoy the book itself. Right from the beginning, it grabs you with this terrifying situation this girl is in. It gets your attention and holds it. You feel for her and this bizarre situation she is thrown into. This macho tough guy falling head over heels, and being a man on a mission. Good book, Good Price, Check it out.

I did receive a free copy of this book to give an unbiased review. This book may interest some people and it comes at a very low price so you can give it a shot, and who knows it may be your cup of tea. It is only $0.99 on Amazon.com at the time of this post. However you can also read it for FREE if you have Kindle Unlimited

Buried Threads by Kaylin Mcfarren 5 ✭

I received a free copy of this book for an unbiased review. But honestly, if this book had been talked about more in online groups or a top Amazon rating I would have picked this up anyways. I LOVED the intensity this book brought. Action, lust, ups, and downs are all there. The cover is unique and beautiful. Not that you should pick a book by its cover.

Rachel and Chase are treasure hunters, but that might be the only normal basic part of this story. There are monks, cursed swords, Yakuza and Geisha. You get multiple characters points of view and it isn't jumbled or crazy. You can follow it and get a clear idea and understanding of the character.

Honestly, I am probably going to read this book again soon. It is so different than most of the other types of books out there. It's a whole new culture and atmosphere to read about. I believe people should give this a shot. Let's put it this way... I am going to be picking up the first and third books in the series.

You can click below to read a free preview or you can click the link to go straight to Amazon.com. The book is currently listed as $3.99 at the time of the post.
