This was a different take on how a vampire-human relationship drama can happen in an urban fantasy novel. Most books have that typical male vampire in a romance book who is always brooding around, or resistant to the relationship. This was different because this is a man with feelings. He has a past that has left him "emotionally wounded" so he doesn't form attachments. That ordinary, but he has aged beyond and is aware of these issues.

So Vincent is like a cop in a modern time when people know about vampires and it seems like he really isn't an actual copy and he's like a helper. One thing I didn’t like about this confusing  "job position" he has is because it seems like the humans were always able to keep up, or do just as good as him. It's not bad just different, and I didn't like that. So I don't like his job, but I like him as an individual.

Mila was an interesting character to read. She had humor, she felt naïve, but just was also strong in the sense that "Life ain't gonna keep her down." She becomes a witness after she is almost killed by a psycho vamp that she meets on some V-date site.Vincent is the one who ends up saving her just in time from the killer. Then things get complicated as the two fight their mutual attraction towards one another.

I did get a free copy of this book from the publisher to read and I would still recommend it. I think some people would love to read a true gentleman like Vincent
